3 People Shot Inside Trotwood Club

Police in Trotwood said an argument came close to turning deadly when words turned to weapons and one man pulled out a semi-automatic handgun.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. at the Leo II's nightclub at 4155 Salem Avenue. Police said the club was pretty packed at the time, they believe there were more than 100 people inside.

Investigators said the problems began with a disagreement between two men. Sgt. Eric Wilson said "It sounds like it started with an arguement and then the gun was pulled and the fight happened after the gun was pulled."

Wilson said the shooter did hit the male victim he had argued with but a couple of other bullets he fired hit two women at the bar, innocent victims of the gunfire. The gunfire led to a rush for the exits and calls for police and paramedics.

Trotwood paramedics took one man and one woman to the hospital. Police said one of the female victims had friends that drove her to the hospital. Officers are also checking reports that a couple people suffered cuts from broken glass in the rush to get out of the building.

Wilson said each of the three gunshot vicitms may have been hit more than once by bullets. He also said the department is relieved that it appears none of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.

Police said the shooter did not stick around at the club after the incident. They are still working to develop enough information to identify him and then eventually arrest him.

Sgt. Wilson said his detectives are looking to see what the club's cameras recorded during the incident. "At this time, the surveillance tape has brought some good intel but I'm not going into what all that we have from that."

Detectives hope to talk again with the victims and the club's managers to put together more leads to follow in tracking down the shooter.
