Make Reservations For Jail In Butler County

Posted: 4:05 pm EDT July 24, 2008

You've probably made dinner reservations...but how about making reservations for a jail cell? That's what you need to do if you bring a prisoner to the Butler County Jail.

Sheriff Richard Jones says police agencies need to call ahead for a reservation anytime they want to bring a new prisoner to his jail.

Starting Friday, the sheriff says he will limit the intake of prisoners because of budget problems, and a jail supervisor will need to approve any new inmates.

Until recently, the sheriff had excess beds and was renting them to neighborhood counties. But Jones says that has become too costly.
