Tracks Reopen To Train Traffic In Tipp City

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- As the sun rose Sunday morning, the sounds of train whistles and bells once again echoed through Tipp City.23 hours earlier, nine cars of a 76-car southbound C.S.X. freight train derailed between the Crane Road and Park Ave. crossings Saturday morning.Crews worked all night clearing the wreckage and replacing 2300 feet of damaged rails. IMAGES OF: Train Derailment In Tipp CityAround 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the first train traveled at walking speed across the new rails and through the scene of the derailment.The cause of the derailment is under investigation by C.S.X. officials.There were no injuries, no chemical spills nor need for evacuations.The damaged rail cars were hauling high dollar Escalade and Yukon sports utility vehicles.Steve.Baker@WHIOTV.com
