Greenville School Board Approves Teachers Contract

The 200 teachers in the Greenville School District return to the classrooms Tuesday morning for the opening day of the new school year with a contract.

Early Monday morning, meeting in a special session, the Board of Education gave unanimous approval to a new two-year contact agreement with the Greenville Education Association.

The contract includes a 2.5 percent raise the first year and a 1.25 percent increase the second year of the agreement.

There is no change to the health insurance in which the school board pays 90 percent of the premium and the teachers 10 percent. Dental and vision care continue to be paid by the school board.

The teachers on Saturday ratified the contract by 92 percent of the teachers voting to approve.
