TROY, Ohio -- A night manager at Bob Evan's Restaurant in Troy Saturday night told a Miami County 911 dispatcher, "I was just robbed and he took a lot of money."

Minutes later, the would-be robber was taken into custody in Piqua. The restaurant manager was also handcuffed by Troy police, taken to the police department for questioning and later booked into the Miami County jail on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice.

Police identified the manager as Dustin Helman, 26, of Vandalia.

Joe Bates, 55, from Indiana was charged with robbery.

Police said the two men knew each other, but were not sure for how long.

There are still many more questions than answers right now, but more information should become available on Monday.

Helman told 9-11 dispatchers that $600 in cash was taken in the hold-up.

Piqua police took Bates into custody minutes after the reported robbery at a gasoline station off Interstate 75 at U.S. Route 36. Lt. Bill Collins said Bates was arrested "without a problem." He was turned over to Troy police and was transported back to their department for questioning.

Bates was later booked into the Miami County jail on a felony robbery charge.
