DAYTON, Ohio -- A new WHIOTV/SurveyUSA poll shows that Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland’s approval rating has dipped to 49 percent. The survey taken of 600 adults statewide showed that 45 percent disapprove of Strickland and 6 percent are not sure. Another poll had the governor’s approval rating at 55 percent back in June.It comes just as the governor struggles to manage a tight state budget. In the Dayton region, Strickland’s approval rating was even lower at 46 percent. Strickland has ordered multi-million dollar cuts in state spending in an effort to keep the budget balanced.Among the unpopular changes ordered by the governor was the closure of the Twin Valley Behavioral Health Center in Dayton, a mental health facility.Jim.otte@whiotv.com
