The group has hung more than 400 purple ribbons in all cities, villages and townships in Greene County for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.Sunday, people hung 200 ribbons at The Greene. The event at The Greene also included a clothesline display of T-shirts to bring awareness to the issue of domestic violence.“What we hope to do is bring awareness to the tragedy of domestic violence because at the Family Prevention Center of Greene County we really believe that, as a community, if we would all speak up and say ‘No, it is not acceptable’ we can really stop domestic violence,” said Donna Sizemore of the Family Prevention Center. The organization said the display of purple ribbons across Greene County conveys a powerful message that there is no place for domestic violence in the homes, neighborhoods, workplaces or schools of its citizens.
