DAYTON, Ohio -- A Dayton police officer, responding to a call, was involved in a traffic accident Friday night on Wayne Avenue.

The accident happened around midnight as the officer drove his cruisr west on Wayne just past Highland.

Police say another car pulled out in front of the cruiser and the officer was forced to swerve to avoid a collision.

According to reports, the cruiser skidded sideways and struck an RTA pole on the other side of the street.

The officer was treated and released at Miami Valley Hospital.

Police say the accident is still under investigation.
