Dayton Police Confiscate 30 Pot Plants

Thursday, November 20, 2008 – updated: 3:03 pm EST November 20, 2008

Police in Dayton were called to an eastside home on the report of a break-in and discovered a marijuana-growing operation.

Officers said a neighbor saw someone break into the home through the back door at 225 Notre Dame Avenune and called police. However, when officers arrived, they found nearly 30 marijuana plants with a street value of up to $5,000.

Police are calling it a small marijuana-growing operation with all the necessary tools to go with it.

An undercover officer said they confiscated grow lights, chemicals and other tools.

Paula Mayes, who lives next door, said, “I would have never expected anything going on over there.”

She described her neighbors as nice.

Police said the person who lives at the house was not home when officers arrived. They are trying to find her and she could face a number of charges.
