Fire Damages Apartments In Fairborn

Thursday, December 4, 2008 – updated: 10:44 am EST December 5, 2008

Residents of a Fairborn apartment building were forced out of their homes and into the cold Thursday night.

The fire happened around 6 p.m. in the 200 block of on North Broad Street in Fairborn.

When fire crews arrived, they found one of the top units on fire.

One resident, Jody Todd, was shocked to find out his apartment was on fire. Todd said, “I was coming home and next thing you know, my boss drove past and there was flames of smoke.”

A portion of North Broad Street was closed to traffic for a while while crews battled the fire.

The Red Cross provided shelter to the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and Todd said he's out of luck because he had no renter's insurance.

“It’s a bad time,” said Todd.
