DAYTON, Ohio -- Time and money are running out to get a discount on a digital converter box for the switch to digital TV on February 17.The government has been offering coupons to cover part of the cost of the converter boxes, but the program that subsidized the converter boxes is approaching its funding limit. The cost of the boxes is between $40 and $80.Government officials say they will have to create a waiting list for the converter boxes unless lawmakers come up with more money. You can always purchase a digital converter box at the full price.
