March Crackdown On Dangerous Driving

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Authorities in Indiana are going to be cracking down on bad drivers during Operation Pull Over Blitz 58.The Governor's Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving and the Indiana Justice Institute announced a March crackdown on impaired and aggressive driving that will coincide with Indiana basketball events.The goal is to reduce the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities on Indiana roadways this March.This high-visibility enforcement effort will take place from March 6-22 covering the Big Ten and March Madness basketball games.During this time, more than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies will deploy sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and other enforcement tactics that are designed to detect and arrest (legally) intoxicated/impaired drivers.Officers will also be on the lookout for aggressive drivers, those who speed, run red lights, tailgate and commit other traffic violations.Operation Pull Over Blitz 58 is a statewide, enforcement blitz administered by ICJI’s Traffic Safety division with federal funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In support of this effort, ICJI will also launch a corresponding, statewide paid media flight beginning March 2-16, known as “Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.” This public awareness campaign will consist of radio, television and outdoor advertising.
