Truck Crashes Into Beavercreek Business

Posted: 4:57 pm EDT March 17, 2009

Police in Beavercreek said a building was damaged Tuesday afternoon after a truck crashed into it.

Alexandra Lander said, “It’s so funny, I was like that sounded like a truck hit the building, and well good call.”

Landers was in middle of a massage when the box truck hit the building.

She said, “I’d told them I’d reschedule as soon as I could because we had to evacuate. It’s the strangest situation I’d ever had.”

Police said the truck was making a delivery at Marion’s Pizza. The driver hopped out and the truck rolled away across all four lanes of North Fairfield Road.

Sgt. George Combs said, “Apparently the truck managed to maneuver by itself without hitting anyone or having it hit it.”

The truck stopped when it hit a brick wall. On the other side of the wall is Rachel’s Spa Experience, and a room normally reserved for relaxation.

Authorities said it is going to take some work to get the outside of the building back to normal. At one point, firefighters did not want anyone touching the truck.

Battalion Chief Kip Smith said, “The vehicle could be in part supporting the walls.”

Employees at Marion’s did manage to get the food that they had ordered.

Emergency crews left the building, but if you happen to have an appointment, it might be best to call first.
