The rain came down fast and heavy around 6:45 a.m. Thursday on Martin Street in Greenville.

The heavy rain did not cause many problems in Greenville, but about the same time, a crash occurred not far from the Shelby County line near Jackson Center.

The head-on collision happened on State Route 274 and sent two drivers to hospitals in Bellefontaine and Sidney.

In Miami County, the third day of the annual Hug the Earth Festival had to be moved indoors to the Miami County Fairgrounds because of the rain.

Organizers hope to return the festivities to the Garbry Big Wood Reserve for the final day on Friday.

By mid-morning, the rain had stopped and the skies cleared.
