The mother of a 15-year-old Clark County student who has been tested for the H1N1 virus spoke exclusively with News Center 7.

Her message is that parents and students need to educate themselves about the virus.

The family said by the time the test results came back saying that that the teen had a confirmed case of the H1N1 virus, he was already well on his way to recovery.

The teen got sick on May 17 and never went to school sick. The family said they have received plenty of support through the situation, but the news has brought out the worst in some parents and students.

A roomful of parents met Tuesday night at Northridge Middle School and talked with health officials and school officials about the virus. Parents had plenty of questions.

The student’s mother said her son got sick on May 17 with the H1N1 virus. However, she said her son is doing fine now.

However, the woman said her family is sick of the backlash from some parents.

The teen’s mother said, she wants everyone who has questions or concerns about the H1N1 virus to take a heavy dose of good education.

Family members and health officials do not know where the teen may have contracted the virus. No one around him has shown symptoms.

Officials said he also has not had any connection with other children.
