Coach Accused Of Inappropriate Text Messages

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio -- A teacher and soccer coach at Milton-Union High School in West Milton is charged with a misdemeanor of contributing to the deliquency of a minor for excessive texting back and forth with a 17-year-old female high school student.Investigators identified him as Manuel Perez, 42, of Flecther, a language arts teacher and girl's soccer coach.The matter was recently brought to the attention of the Miami County Sheriff's Department by the parents of the student, said Capt. Dave Duchak. Deputies launched an investigation to "determine the veracity of the allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with the minor student."The charge was filed last Friday against Perez by the sheriff's department in Miami County Juvenile Court. He is ordered to appear in court on June 17 to respond to the alleged offense.
