Shots Fired In Fairborn Neighborhood

FAIRBORN, Ohio -- Police are looking for the person or persons who are responsible for firing shots in a local neighborhood on Monday.The gunshots were fired in the 1800 block of Wilber Avenue in Fairborn. Detectives said they found two discarded guns a few blocks from the shooting scene.According to police, the yard where the guns were tossed had a 3-year-old boy playing in it.One resident, Tony Whitt, said, “I was sitting on my porch, heard several pops. I thought maybe it was fireworks.”Police said two men argued and then opened fire, hitting a least two structures, and then took off in separate cars. They said the vehicles sped away from Wilbur Avenue.Sgt. Paul Hicks said, “We did find empty shell casings in the driveway. There was also a bullet hole in the second floor of the house and in a shed.”Officers said a short time later on Stewart Street, which is just a few streets away from Wilber Avenue, a call came in alerting officers that two guns had just been thrown out of a moving vehicle.Hicks said, “One of the descriptions was a red SUV or truck.”Police said a 3-year-old boy was playing outside at the time the guns were tossed. The child’s mother said he son thought it was a toy gun and said it was cocked and ready to go.The child was not injured.
