A 46-year-old resident of Port Jefferson died Tuesday afternoon in her home of what Shelby County Sheriff Dean Kimpel believes was an "accidental overdose on prescription medication."

Kimpel said this is the third drug overdose death in two weeks. The other two were in the city of Sidney. Those deaths were due to heroin and oxicontent, said the Sheriff.

In Piqua, Deputy Police Chief Tom Christy said police believe a Troy man died late last night from a drug overdose.

The 46-year-old collapsed outside on the street at the corner of Wood and Roosevelt Streets in Piqua after becoming ill. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Upper Valley Medical Center near Troy.

The Piqua Fire Department rescue squad was dispatched to the scene at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Kimpel and Christy both said their departments are awaiting the results of the autopsies.
