Juvenile Accused In Attempted Abduction

XENIA, Ohio -- Police in Xenia said a juvenile is being held in juvenile detention accused of breaking to a house and on suspicion of an attempted abduction.According to police, officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Commonwealth Drive around 1:12 a.m. on a report of aggravated burglary and an attempted abduction.Police said officers were already in the area looking for a suspect who was reportedly breaking into unoccupied vehicles. Officers quickly realized that the suspect and clothing description on both calls were similar and could be the same person.When officers arrived at the residence on Commonwealth Drive, they were told that a juvenile entered the home through a window and made contact with a juvenile victim in her bedroom. Police said the burglar put duct tape on the victim’s face and tried to remove her from the house.Officers said a family member heard noise coming from the victim’s room and went to investigate. The relative found the victim with duct tape on her face and the juvenile burglar appeared to have fled on foot.Police said officers checked the residence of the possible suspect immediately at the time of the officers responded to the burglary and attempted abduction call and found a person matching the description entering his residence while officers were on the scene.Investigators said the suspect had items in his possession that may have been taken during the burglary.The juvenile is being held on unrelated charges. The Greene County prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case for possible charges.Police said the boy and the girl did not know each other prior to the break-in.However, police said the suspect has had run-in’s with the law in the past. He is now facing charges of abduction, kidnapping and aggravated burglary.
