Former Teacher Exposes Himself In Park

RICHMOND, Indiana -- Authorities said a former teacher in Wayne County, Ind., was arrested after he allegedly exposed himself near a group of children at Springwood Park in Richmond on Wednesday night.Police said officers were sent to Springwood Park around 6:40 p.m. after a parent saw a man performing a sex act on himself while he was watching the children play baseball.Kermit Thomas, 71, of Hagerstown, is a retired teacher for the Nettle Creek School District.Officers said that when the parent approached Thomas, he allegedly continue to perform the sex act and asked if the parent wanted to watch. That parent then called police.Lt. Brad Berner said, "He left and the parent kept an eye on him until officers arrived."According to police, Thomas admitted that he exposed himself, but not while he watching the children play baseball. He was taken into custody and is being held in the Wayne County Jail.Thomas was charged with public indecency. He posted a $255 bond and was released.News Center has learned that Thomas’ wife is facing her own legal problems.The Indiana Secretary of State has ordered Jane Thomas and Robert Owens and their company Tri-County Finance Company to stop selling securities. They were given a cease and desist order.According to court document’s, the company was selling unregistered securities and selling securities without being a registered brokerage.Tri-County Finance Company is located in Hagerstown.
