Sales Tax Goes Up In Miami Co. For 911 Upgrade

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio -- Beginning Oct. 1 the sales tax in Miami County will increase by 0.25 percent, bringing the total sales tax to 6.75 percent.The Miami County Commissioners approved that increase Thursday afternoon to be used to pay for a $6.6 million upgrade to the countywide 911 system.The vote came following a second public hearing prior to the unanimous vote. The tax increase will be collected through Sept. 30, 2014.The increase will cost the shopper 25 cents more for every $100 spent.
