CAMDEN, Ohio -- A 49-year-old Camden man died at Miami Valley Hospital Friday night after being struck by a box-type truck earlier in the evening.

According to a release from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, police responded to a pedestrian struck call around 6:30 p.m. at 8200 Pottenger Road, near Camden.

Witnesses said a box-type truck was backing in a private driveway at the home, when a pedestrian, identified as Mark Lewis, walked behind the truck for an undetermined reason.

The driver did not see Lewis and struck him.

Lewis was treated at the scene by Camden Rescue Squad and was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital where he died roughly five hours later.
