Bond was continued Friday morning for a Xenia high school girl's volleyball coach and guidance counselor charged with three counts of sexual battery involving a student.

Brenda Osborne is free after posting a $7,500 bond. She was arrested Thursday after she was accused of having sexual contact with a female student at the school.

Xenia Police Capt Doug Doherty said, "We found out the information on Wednesday. Our investigation and information we gathered led us to the culmination of the arrest Thursday."

Police said they would not release details of the incident, saying it involved Osborne and one other student and the contact did not occur on school grounds.

Dr. Jeff Lewis, district superintendent said, "It was a complete shock. Her file is clean. No reports of this nature, no suspicions. It's very sad for the students, the school and Ms. Osborne as well."

Lewis said he made a special announcement Friday morning to the entire school saying, "It's going to be a rough day. Let's concentrate on our goal of teaching and learning and doing so, we'll have a sense of order and if we do that, we'll get through this."

Osborne has been employed by the district for over a decade. She is currently on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
