CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ohio -- A man was killed in an ATV accident in Champaign County early Sunday morning.

Police said the man was driving along U.S. 68 north of Urbana.

Gary Todd Conrad, 44, of West Liberty, drove his ATV in a ditch on his way to a relative’s house shortly after midnight.

As Conrad was traveling sought of Lippencott Road officials said that they believe he did not see a telephone pole in the ditch line.

Conrad tried to maneuver around the pole and lost control and was thrown from the ATV.

Conrad was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. They also said he was not wearing a helmet.

The accident remains under investigation.
