DARKE COUNTY, Ohio -- On October 14, 2009 at 9:46 p.m. the Darke County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a 35-year-old woman had fallen down into a hole and was injured at 9357 Horatio-Harris Creek Road near Bradford, OH.Bradford Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the scene as well as Darke County Deputies. Careflight was requested by rescue personnel on the scene; however, Careflight could not respond due to weather. The woman was extricated from an open excavated dirt hole that was approximately five-feet deep. Bradford Rescue took the woman to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.Darke County Deputies conducted an investigation into this incident. A look out/attempt to locate was issued by deputies for an adult witness who had left the scene of the incident after calling 911.Deputies did make contact with that subject. The investigation which included statements from the female, who had fallen, as well as evidence at the scene, indicates that her fall was merely an accident and there is nothing at this time to support criminal conduct.
