Taco Bell Burglary In Celina

Posted: 8:40 pm EDT October 26, 2009Updated: 9:25 pm EDT October 26, 2009

Two local men have been indicted in connection with a break-in at the Celina Taco Bell that was reported on July 15, 2009.

The incident was discovered when Celina officers responded to an alarm call at the business on E. Market St. They arrived to find the east customer entrance door had been shattered.

The restaurant manager had already arrived at the scene and pulled surveillance video which showed someone entering the store at 4:52 a.m.

The ongoing investigation led to the development of a suspect and eventually identified two males as being involved in the crime.

The case was presented to the Mercer County Grand Jury last week and indictments were brought against Dean Jons, 24, 126 Leona Street, Celina and Tyler J. Hammonds, 18, 329 Beaver Street, Celina. Each are facing six counts, including 3 counts of breaking and entering and three counts of theft.

Only two of the charges against each suspect deal with the incident at Taco Bell.

The other four charges are in connection with a break-in at Coldwater Dairyland on July 14, 2009 and Celina Custom Auto on July 27, 2009. Information clearing those two cases was uncovered during the Taco Bell investigation.

Jons and Hammond are both being held in the Mercer County Jail pending their initial court appearance in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
