DAYTON, Ohio -- Several shots rang out overnight in a Dayton neighborhood and left a Huber Heights man dead in the street. Now, police tell us they're looking for as many as three people who may have been involved in the crime. The shooting happened around midnight near Sheridan and Harbine in Dayton.Officials at the Montgomery County Coroner's office identified the victim as Dante Smith, 32, of Huber Heights. Some residents said they heard several gunshots and then saw a man collapse in the street.Frank Hughes said, "I was just sitting in my bed, playing a video game. I heard 9 gunshots and then I ran to the front window. I looked out the window and the man was walking, spinning around in the street then fell flat on his face. He got up, staggered around a little more, then fell back on his face."Medics arrived and pronounced Smith dead at the scene.Police believe the shooting was the result of an argument in the same area about 20 minutes earlier that involved at least one woman and two men.Witnesses also said they saw the victim following a man up the hill with a clenched fist behind his back. A few minutes later, the victim was running back down the hill with a man chasing him and firing a gun over and over.Detectives said at least two shots hit the victim, one in the head and one in the chest.Officers say they're looking for three people that were seen driving away from the area in a light-colored Oldsmobile. They believe one of the three people inside that vehicle may be the shooter. Police have not made any arrests.
