SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Jury selection began in the trial of a Clark County woman accused of abusing her adopted children.

Prosecutors said Vonda Ferguson, 46, burned her five children with hammers, burned them with irons and made them eat feces.

Ferguson is charged with 33 counts of felonious assault, child endangering, permitting child abuse and rape.

Her husband, James, was convicted of similar charges last year. He was sentenced to 65 years in prison.

Jury selection is expected to last several days.
