Police: Polite Serial Robber Arrested

Police in Eaton said they have arrested a serial robber who is accused of robbing local stores three times in the past two weeks.

According to police, they said Michael Petry was polite when he robbed the businesses. They said they were able to connect Petry to the robberies because he apologized to the clerks as he allegedly held up the businesses.

Petry, 29, showed good manners two weeks ago as he stood in front of a clerk at the Sunoco gas station, held up a gun and demanded a bag full of cash, police said.

Last week, the well-mannered Petry showed up at the Sunoco station again, but this time he attempted something not so nice, police said.

Police said the alarm company advised that there was a glass break alarm. They said the alarm scared off Petry before he could break into the business, so he decided to try the robbery again.

Officers said Petry exposed his gun and demanded the cashier give him all of the money, which was followed by an apology to the clerk.

Investigators noticed the odd motive and got a tip this weekend and Petry then turned himself in.

Police said it appears that a drug addiction led to the robberies.

According to police, the gun used during the robbery was a squirt gun. Petry was charged with aggravated robbery, theft and breaking and entering.
