TROTWOOD, Ohio -- A Trotwood father is in jail accused of shaking his 1-year-old son so violently that the boy is blind and partially paralyzed.

Police said the boy's injuries are consistent with shaken baby syndrome. An arrest warrant was issued for Brandon Beatty, 23, on two felony counts of child endangering.

Police said Beatty turned himself in Monday night.

Officers said Beatty denied shaking his son; however, he claimed the 1-year-old fell off a chair while he was out of the room.

The child was taken from Children's Medical Center in Dayton to a hospital in Indianapolis. He is now in the custody of his mother.
