Xenia Voters Passing School Bond

Xenia Community Schools have asked voters three times to pass a bond issue, and now it appears that the third time was the charm.

The district asked voters to approve a 3.2 mill bond issue and tax levy. As of 11 p.m. the issue was passing 53 to 47 percent.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Lewis told News Center 7 that the district revamped its campaign by asking for less money and focused of the importance of building five new elementary schools.

Lewis said, “Our oldest elementary school was built in 1948. I think grandparents and parents know how old and tired our schools are.”

Lewis said the new construction will bring more than 150 jobs to Xenia and will boost the local economy.
