Troopers said two people were killed Thursday morning when the driver of a pickup truck went left of center and slammed head-on into another vehicle.

The collision happened Thursday morning on Morris Road near Windyridge Drive in Moorefield Township.

Troopers with the Ohio State Patrol said it looks like the collision may be the man’s fault after he crossed the center line and slammed head-on into a van that was carrying a 2-year-old girl.

SLIDESHOW: Double Fatal Collision

Troopers identified the driver of the pickup truck as Robert Johnson, 45, of Springfield. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors and drivers went to check on the woman driving the van, identified as 39-year-old Tricia Worth. She appeared to be trapped and was seriously injured.

The said Worth was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital, where she later died.

Everyone at the scene tried to help the toddler who was very scared and upset.

One man said, “There was a little girl the seat directly behind her mom. Thank God she was not hurt. She had her seat belt on and everything. After they got here, we took here inside to keep her warm until relatives could get here.”

Lt. Craig Cvetan said, “It is clear this morning. Obviously there were no adverse weather conditions and no adverse road conditions. We can’t determine yet why the man went left of center.”

The child is being cared for by relatives.
