Jerry Dembski, 51, who is a retired Sidney police officer and accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old student, appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.

He entered the plea on Monday afternoon in a very brief arraignment which lasted only minutes.

A grand jury indicted Dembski last week on 12 counts, including five counts of child enticement, four counts of sexual impositions, and single counts each of importuning, tampering with evidence and intimidating a witness.

He was working as a study hall monitor at Sidney Middle School when he was arrested.

He has since resigned from his position at the school and remains free on a $12,500 bond.
