TROY, Ohio -- Fire investigators from Troy are looking for the cause of a pre-dawn fire that destroyed a small two-story house at 1120 Patton Street Sunday morning. The investigation centers around the electrical wiring.Damages are estimated at $54,750 that included the house and contents, a neighbor's car and the exterior of the neighbor's home.Shortly before 3 a.m. a passing motorist and neighbors called 911 reporting that the house was engulfed in flames. The first police officer at the scene noticed no furniture in the house while a neighbor assured the officer that no one was living in the rental property. A new renter was in the process of moving in.The heat from the blaze melted the siding on the house next door. Inside that house asleep was Delbert Hess. He said a neighbor woke him up.Hess said he was only able to move one of his cars, while the intense heat kept him from getting to his other vehicle.Troy Fire Department Shift Commander Doug Lamka said, "Flames were blowing out the upstairs windows when we arrived on the scene."It appeared the fire started in the upstairs. There were no injuries.Within a short time firefighters had the fire under control.
