St. Henry Woman Charged With Perjury

ST. HENRY, Ohio -- A St. Henry woman has been charged with perjury in connection with a case involving the death of a baby.Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said Tamara S. Evers, 45, of St. Henry, was arrested.Evers is accused of making a false statement in a Mercer County court last year in a hearing regarding the death of Trevor Stammen, the 6-month-old infant son of Brian and Angie Stammen of Fleetfoot Road, St. Henry. Trevor’s death occurred on July 8, 2008.While the investigation of Trevor’s death is still being conducted, Sheriff Grey indicated his office is presently in discussions with the Mercer County prosecutor and expect official charges related to the death to be filed in the very near future."It has always been our desire to bring this case to a clear closure for all those involved," said Grey. "Through a long and concentrated investigation we are confident we are headed for that direction. The investigation remains open," explained the Sheriff, "No other information will be released at this time."Perjury is a felony of the third degree, punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
