A woman accused of abusing her foster children has taken the stand in a Clark County courtroom and is being questioned about how she met her husband.

Vonda Ferguson was charged with abusing all five of her adopted children. Her trial began last week.

The prosecution put several witnesses on the stand, including a doctor who treated one of the children for his injuries.

The judge and jury heard stories of beatings with belts, extension cords, hammers and plungers. One of the children testified that he was duct taped to chairs and forced to hide the abuse.

He child testified, "We never wore short sleeves."

He also told the court other horrifying stories of physical and mental abuse. "If you had a bowl movement, she would have you put in in your mouth and eat it," said the boy.

Ferguson's husband, James, was convicted on abuse charges and is serving 65 years in prison.

News Center 7's Gabrielle Enright is in the courtroom and will provide the latest today beginning at 5 p.m. on News Center 7.
