DAYTON, Ohio -- Fire officials said a house fire in Clayton Thursday started in a laundry chute. They said because of all of the empty space in the chute, the fire spread quickly, reaching from the attic to the basement.Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the central chute.Fire investigators said the house does not appear to be livable at the moment. However, it does not appear to be a total loss.Investigators said a male resident started to fight the fire on his own with a garden hose. No one was injured in the fire.
