DAYTON, Ohio -- Police said a suspect in connection with a man’s death in January has turned himself in to police.Officers said they have been looking for 32-year-old Deon Pinson, who is accused of killing his best friend, 24-year-old Demetrius Frazier, during a robbery. On Wednesday, Pinson talked to News Center 7 about the charges against him.On Monday, officers issued an arrest warrant for Pinson. When he turned himself in to Dayton police, he told them that they have identified the wrong suspect.Pinson told News Center 7 that he plans to defend his innocence. He said, “Innocent as could be. Detectives know that. They just want me to tell who did it.”Frazier was shot multiple times in the back and the head on Jan. 23 on Otterbein Avenue during what police called a “robbery scheme” gone bad.“I got robbed and he got killed in the process. I didn’t kill anybody. That was my best friend,” Pinson said.Sgt. Gary White said, “Mr. Pinson is not the victim in this case. He is the suspect.”Investigators said Pinson was involved in the robbery plan and the shooting of his friend. They also said that thanks to new evidence, they feel confident that the right man is in custody.“The whole case will be exposed when we go to trial and the public will know what happened in Demetrius Frazier’s murder,” White said.Pinson will be held in the Montgomery County Jail. He is expected to appear in court on Thursday on charges of aggravated robbery and murder.Police also said that more arrests could be made.
