Man Captured In Trotwood Burglary

TROTWOOD, Ohio -- Police in Trotwood are investigating a burglary that happened in the 800 block of Snyder Road.According to police, the homeowner noticed someone outside of his garage and when he went to investigate, he noticed that his garage had been broken into.The homeowner told police that he believed that the burglar then drove down the road in a red pickup and he began following the vehicle. The homeowner called police to tell them what he was doing and followed the the man as he drove to a dead-end on Holler Road.The burglar then broke out a back window and took off running around Madison Lake as officers began arriving.Officers brought in a K-9 unit that tracked the man about a half-mile through a wooded area. The dog caught up with the man on the other side of the lake.The burglar was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County jail.Officers later learned that the truck the burglar was driving was actually stolen from a neighbor of the homeowner.Investigators are gathering evidence and checking with other people who live in the neighborhood. They suspect the man may have broken into other homes or outbuildings in the area.Police said this was a case of great cooperation and nosy neighbors helping police stop a one-man crime wave.
