SWAT Callout Ends Without Gunfire

A standoff ends peacefully after a man threatens to open fire in a neighborhood crowded with children.

At 4:45 p.m., a man called Crisis Care, a critical incident response services, training and resources provider, threatening to shoot a man who he claimed broke into his house. Crisis Care notified the Dayton Police Department, which dispatched SWAT to the man's home on the 100 block of Xenia Avenue.

Crews on scene closed the street and evacuated several nearby houses. After 45 minutes of negotiations, the man came out of his house, apparently intoxicated. Investigators did not find any weapons inside the house.

A review of the man's record showed that he was released from a mental institution Monday. He was taken back after the standoff for further evaluation.
