Investigators said a red Jeep was headed eastbound on Route 35 when it was almost hit head on by another vehicle that was traveling westbound.

Major David Hale said, “It went left of center, whole car in the other lane. It struck the first vehicle, flipping it on its side.”

Witnesses who were traveling not too far behind could not believe what they saw.

Karen Eby said, “I heard a big explosion and saw her car flipping. Saw him coming down and tires and big pieces of his car coming off at me. I dodged over the other lane to get away.”

After crawling out of her overturned Jeep, the woman who was hit talked to News Center 7.

Jane Schreyer said, “Just driving normal and all of sudden a car was just in my lane right in front of me coming the opposite direction. I had no time to do anything. Next thing I knew, I was laying on the side in my car on the ground.”

The man who deputies believe caused the collision was taken by ambulance to a local hospital to be check for non-life-threatening injuries.

Schreyer said she refused treatment at the scene.
