Lima Woman Gets $250K Bond In Drug Death

A Lima woman accused of intentionally causing a drug overdose death appeared in court on Thursday.

Formal charges were filed against Vicky L. Sprowl, 54, in connection with the drug overdose death that occurred in Celina in August of 2009. Bradley D. Heckman, 38, was found dead on the afternoon of August 30, 2009, at 207 Dogwood Drive in Celina.

An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was acute multi-drug intoxication. Investigation into his death led to the development of a suspect.

Sprowl was charged with three counts, including involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, and trafficking in drugs, said Celina Police Chief David Slusser.

The charges stem from Sprowl’s alleged role in providing the drugs that ultimately lead to Heckman’s death, to Heckman.

The Celina Police Department presented the case to the February session of the Mercer County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury returned indictments on the three felony charges.

Sprowl was located and taken into custody by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office at her home Wednesday morning.

Her bond was set at $250,000.
