DAYTON, Ohio -- Conflict within the Southern Christian Leadership Conference seems to be escalating. The SCLC is under investigation by federal and local authorities for how leaders, including local minister Raliegh Trammell, handled government grant money.Meanwhile, there is also a legal battle over the control of the SCLC’s national board. This week, critics of Trammell asked a judge to give them full control of the organization. They accuse Trammell of maneuvering and posturing to cut off his critics. However, other leaders said they just want to focus on the work of the organization.Rev. Jerome McCorry said, "We have to begin to look at what’s best in the organization who by now should have excused themselves from the organization for the good for the organization because I think that is where the emphasis should be."Trammell has called for a board meeting in Alabama next month, but his critics are calling for the meeting to be held in Atlanta instead.
