Culberson Body Search Enters Second Week

Monday, May 10, – updated: 9:30 pm EDT May 10, 2004

On Monday, investigators entered their second week searching rural Brown County for the remains of a Blanchester woman missing for eight years.

Carrie CulbersonDespite digging more than 15 feet deep under a pole barn where five different cadaver-sniffing dogs indicated a human scent, investigators have found no sure sign of 22-year-old Carrie Culberson.

But the sheriffs from Brown and Clinton counties, plus FBI agents, reportedly unearthed several items that might be connected to Culberson, although they will not reveal what they are.

Culberson's former boyfriend, Vincent Doan, was convicted of killing her in a murder case that lacked a body as evidence.

For Culberson's family, no body has meant no formal goodbyes, no gravesite for grieving and no end to the speculation.

Day after day, Culberson's mother, father, sister and their supporters have kept a vigil at the search site southeast of Blanchester.

The search was suspended on Sunday in honor of Mother's Day.
