KETTERING, Ohio -- A woman held up a Kettering bank Wednesday afternoon and got away with cash; however, the die pack exploded, making the money worthless.

The robbery happened at the Provident Bank on Woodman Drive around 1 p.m.

Officers said a thin black woman walked into the bank, displayed a handgun and tried to get the money out of the vault. She failed to get the money, so she jumped the counter, demanded cash and then fled the scene toward a nearby business.

According to detectives, the getaway car, a Chrysler Sebring, was driven by a black male. They said the car had Michigan license plates that read 4babyJ.
