Vanity license plates helped Kettering police solve a bank robbery that occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The robbery happened at the Provident Bank in Woodlane Plaza near the intersection of Dorothy Lane and Woodman Drive.

Officers said two people are responsible for the robbery and fled the scene in a car with personalized license plates.

Police said a woman walked into the bank and demanded money. Upon leaving, a dye pack exploded and the woman dropped the money and fled the scene with a man waiting in a getaway car.

Witnesses said after seeing a description of the license plate, 4BABYJ, on television, they called police. They reported seeing the vehicle traveling north on Interstate 75.

Investigators tracked the license plate and discovered the car belonged to a man living in Detroit, Michigan and then contacted Michigan FBI agents. Federal agents waited for the suspect to arrive at home and took him into custody.

They are currently questioning the man and do know the identity of the woman involved.
