Bullet Strikes Man In Elbow In Accidental Shooting

A man accidentally shot himself after his gun fell out of his pocket and fired a shot.

The incident happened when the man was delivering a meal to his elderly friend on Hoover Avenue in Dayton around noon.

Police said the man was carrying a two-shot Derringer in his coat pocket. Officers said when the man sat down in his van, the weapon fell out, hit a hammer, discharged one round and struck the man in the elbow.

The man was not seriously injured. He was taken to a local hospital, treated and released.

Officers said the man did have a concealed carry permit.
