Dayton Man Critically Injured In Early-Morning Shooting

Dayton police officers on their way to a call hear gunshots in a local neighborhood and found a man shot and lying in the middle of the street. The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunnyview near Malvern in northwest Dayton.

Officers said upon arriving on the scene they heard several gunshots fired and then saw at least one person run from the crime scene.

The victim was found in the street with several gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition, according to authorities.

Investigators brought in police dogs to help search for the person or persons responsible for the shooting. During their search, officers recovered at least one firearm and took two people into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting.

At this time, investigators believe robbery may have been the motive, but said they will not rule out any other motives for the shooting. So far, one of the two people taken in for questioning has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
