An accused bank robber was captured minutes after she reportedly held up an Englewood bank Tuesday morning. The robbery happened at the Fifth-Third Bank on Union Road around 9 a.m.

Suspected Bank RobberOfficers said after she was arrested, she confessed to other crimes, including another bank robbery and firing shots into a local high school.

Police said the woman entered the bank wearing a mask and waving a gun. However, she did not get far, according to officers.

Officers caught up with the suspect a few miles away in Trotwood at the intersection of Diamond Mill and Route 35. Authorities from Trotwood, Perry Township, Englewood and Brookville aided in her capture.

Inside the car, officers found a bag full of money covered with red ink from a dye pack. Police said the woman admitted to robbing the Englewood bank and the Liberty Savings Bank in Brookville on Dec. 17.

Authorities also said the woman admitted that she fired shots at Brookville High School as a diversion moments before the Dec. 17 bank robbery. No one was injured at the school, but one of the bullets pierced the front door, while another got stuck in an air-conditioning unit.

Officers believe the woman used the same vehicle in both the Brookville robbery and the Englewood robbery. They also said that between the two crimes, she had altered the car's license plate by using blue tape.

After the woman was arrested she was taken to the federal building for further questioning. Authorities said it is likely the woman will face federal charges for both bank robberies.

Police said the quick capture of the suspect was due to teamwork between several jurisdictions and to a bank customer who followed the car long enough to phone in a description of the woman's car and the direction she was headed.
