FBI Presses Charges Against Suspected Bank Robber

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio -- The FBI pressed federal charges against a suspected bank robber on Tuesday. Cathy Sams, 39, is accused of robbing the Fifth-Third Bank on Union Road in Englewood.Investigators said a witness helped authorities find Sams. Peter Gilbert said he saw the car and watched the dye pack go off. He said there was red smoke pouring out of the car. Gilbert said he started to follow the suspect.Police said Sams confessed to the robbery. The FBI said Sams is also accused of robbing The Brookville Builders and Savings in December.Prosecutors are trying to decide whether to charge Sams with firing shots at Brookville High School as a diversion for the Brookville bank robbery.Sams remains behind bars at the Montgomery County Jail.
